News has broken that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.

Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their roles will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, as the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.

The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
