The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series from Critical Role, revealed a new introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing backstories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and energy that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
