Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
A jet transporting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unplanned landing in the Britain on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official statement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The aircraft landed based on standard procedures and all passengers, including Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a brief trip to Brussels at the time.
This event does not mark the first occasion that a US military aircraft carrying a high-ranking official has encountered technical problems.
Earlier this year, a American military jet carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was required to head back to the US capital after experiencing a mechanical fault.
