Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
